Tippa Irie, pe numele sau adevarat Anthony Henry, activeaza de 25 de ani in scena britanica de reggae dancehall. Si-a inceput cariera sub brandul Saxon Sound International, care a ajutat lansarea unor artisti precum Maxi Priest, Papa Levi si Smiley Culture. Tippa Irie face parte din noua generatie de MC britanici care au dezvoltat stilul “Fast Talking”, preluat in prezent de catre artisti de rap cum ar fi Busta Rhymes.

The Englishmen from Drumattic Twins could be simply called Break Beat. Because they represent what can be called the origin of this musical style. They’re ferocious and distortioned and name their sound „Hammer & Tongs”. All their songs are different from each other, and at the same time all having undergone a success story: breaks mixed with soul, electro and funk. „We’re oldschool, we don’t follow any trend and we like to let the music lead and not the other way around, says Lanx, the one half of the duo. Together with Nick Slater, they perform together since the 90’s, skillful breakbeat, sustained by a „rude” bassline with it’s roots in elektrophunk.

At Iarmaroc we will witness the act of a pioneer on the British scene. He will produce chaos in everything we thought we knew about DJing. How does he do it? With 2 Revox B77 magnetophones. Misterious but reserved smile, big eyes and a funny stage name. When you see her at the music desk, behind her „tools”, you look at her with mistrust. She inspires too much grace. She touches the tools with the subtelty of an origami passionate. Her fingers dance trough the buttons and you expect to hear spring rhapsodys. But she will crush you with the bass and the cold but firm minimal techno rythms. The combination is fantastic.
Un alt discipol al scolii Villalobos, parte din gasca Circoloco, Dyed Soundorom mixeaza house sexy si groovy de Ibiza, presarat cu wtf moments, de genul…si acum, cateva secunde de disco. Cateodata, funkul preia mixul, altadata techno se imbina cu houseul, alteori exista doar deep house si romantismul sau definit de vocaluri de la malul marii cu vibe spaniol.
Wareika inseamna Henrik Raabe, Florian Schirmacher si Jakob Seidensticker. Produc muzica in studioul lor din Hamburg, aproape de port si spun ca peisajul le da sentimentul ca sunt mereu conectati la lume. Au un sound distinct, plin de vitalitate, un trip in lumea ritmurilor, in care houseul este revigorat si jazzul se intalneste cu techno. Ultimul album, Formation, care urmeaza a fi lansat in curand la labelul danez Tartelet, cuprinde piese inregistrate in concert, interludii la pian, improvizatie jazz, field recording, multe instrumente, o puzderie de influente si voce care pe alocuri imi aduce aminte de Elvis. Se aude de parca ar canta toti trei live la tine in sufragerie. Ai toate sansele sa dansezi in casa, cu mainile la tavan si cu fata la monitor. Intre 21 si 23 mai, la Iarmaroc.
